No problem with that, thanks Phil. Got your email too thanks.

There are still no guarantees we will be running, but the invite is out there for all Sports Sedans competitors across the country to express their interest in having a go at this event.

hell yeh me and dad would be in BUT we would have to bring our own fuel.... unless they sell e85 at the event and it MUST be 85% ethanol 15% 98 RON

we ran at those last bathurst races the incar footage is gold. i cant imagine what the current field would be like going around. the only thing i would be upset about is that i dont get to watch!!

You got that footage available for us to see MrBoost?

The fuel issue is probably the only issue for most people, I would have thought one of the new E85 Commodores would be running in the 12Hr with all the green energy push in the world of racing?

Any more updates about this event Toymax?

Quick update:

So far I have received 18 emails expressing interest, plus what you see here on this forum.

Both Phil and Tony Ricciardello have raised some valid points in their emails about safety issues, with which I agree and which will be taken into consideration before any deal is signed with the organisers.

There are still of course a number of other things to fall into place before this is a go, not the least of which is the offer was made to another category that has until 30th September to say yes or no. We are in a holding pattern until then, but I'd still like to hear from anyone interested (or otherwise) sooner rather than later.

Cheers

Interesting to see Ricciardello interested, is this to say we will see him in the Alfa again next year???. Seems like a wasted talent in v8 supercars...

Tony has probably clocked up more race miles this year in V8 supercar than we do in a lifetime in sports sedans. I dread to think how fast he may be when he returns.
It's not as if he is 5 seconds or so a lap slower, there is not that much in it and he will only improve once he gets used to the unique setup of a supercar and all the tracks. Not all drivers come in and run up front (Ambrose was an exception), most take 3 years or so before top 15 results are seen.
I hope for his sake he gets another year otherwise we all move back a place on the grid...hahaha.
Would be great to see him go head to head with Hossack and Sera though.

HAHA true... Is that to say that Sera will be racing next year as well, if he was to win the championship this year he would want to defend his number 1 plate???.

i rekon tony could do with a better car and engineer as well...... no doubt there is setup to learn but id say different team and you would see him much furthur up. there is a reason the same teams remain up the front year in year out and its not all on the drivers shoulders thats for sure.

would the safety issues be the speeds our cars will be doing? and the lack of crash testing most cars have? (with the exception of chris jackson, his car has been hit by someone on every corner and passed)

the thing that worries me is that yeh its exciting that a bunch of cars will be coming out of garages to run, but generally that means with our category 20 cars sitting on the side of the track and a pace car race. would there be a capped grid?

Toyzda if i gave everyone the footage before jd yort id be shot! ive been promising it to him for 2 years now and never get the time to get it off tape to dvd. i really should throw a rsd (rostered sick day) someday soon and convert the hour upon hour of footage i have.

It seems strange that an offer to run at Bathurst has raised some safety issues.
The front National guys were nudging 300kmh at Phillip Island last time.
What would be the difference between an incident at Bathurst to anywhere else?
If we are worried about racing at Bathurst on safety grounds, maybe some need to re-evaluate their current construction?
