Bob McLoughlin - 2014 Queensland Sports Sedan Champion
Posted: Tue Nov 18, 2014 12:54 pmCongratulations to Bob McLoughlin who took out his fifth Queensland Sports Sedan Championship at Morgan Park Raceway on the weekend. It was a real nail biter that went right down to the wire with Brad Shiels leading the points coming into the round. Jason Heck in the Falcon V8 Supercar was well in contention also.
Unfortunately Brad had a rack mount break whilst in the lead in race one. Brad just kept it off the wall, but DNF'ed and the team put in a big effort to repair the car overnight. Sunday's race saw Brad carving through the field until a tyre went down causing a second DNF. Bob McLoughlin took the first two races and needed a top five finish only to see off the challenge from Heck.
Jason drove really well all weekend in the Falcon, taking it to Bob all the way and managed to grab the win in the final race with Bob consolidating to bring the Commodore home in second and take the title.
Good to see Jeff Brown bring the big Falcon up from Sydney also. It was a great field with some excellent racing throughout! Can't wait for 2015!
