Thats a great idea toranaracer.... I enjoyed the last do it in the dark meet at oran park, although not a big field of sports sedans it was still enjoyable watching the boys tussell amongst themselves and the glowing disc brakes and huge exhaust flames....

Sounds like an interesting idea. To run at night would depend on if it was economically viable for Clem to cover the extra costs.
It would also interfere with Kerry Baily's restaurant booking at the Italian Restaurant in North Adelaide that he has a standing booking at (every night).
Besides that sports sedans do not have head lights and I for one do not want to start carving holes in my fibreglass to fit temporary lights.
Mind you I reckon the sweeper in the dark would reward the brave.
I remember going to the GP in Adelaide and it never got dark till 9pm so maybe they do not need lights if we went in summer.

Some of you are on the money and some of you are way off.
What I can tell you is we are scheduled to have our first round at Wakefield and then Mallala and we will be going to the new track at Morgan Park Queensland. Now accurately pick the other 2

Queensland surely needs a round, so many cars based up there and they all travel everywhere else to race so they really deserve their own meting, lock that one in 100%!!!!!!

Mallala is still a difficult one, the class should be loyal to Clem Smith for all his efforts but there is not enough local support or many cars based in SA. Some years back there were some good grids but again they were mostly intestate cars.

Phast Phil when we ran there at night we did not have headlights.
There is plenty of permanent lighting and they put a few temporay lights to cover the darker areas.
Glowing brakes, flaming exhausts.....................
It certainly added a different challenge to Mallala.

I do agree that there isnt enough local support for Mallala, but I am trying to get people motivated!
I would always do the Mallala round and I know Mic Monteroso's old VN Comodore should be good to run, also Mic's old Escort should be good to run, plus at least another one or two cars, theres 4 or 5 cars to add to the group!

I have done a few twilight meetings there and they are great fun! But I think we need to be aware that at that time of year it can get very cold at night and if it rains at night in a Sports Sedan you would nearly have to say it couldnt be done. Im all for a twilight race but I think we need to look at the real chance of it being possible if it does rain...
These cars are hard enough to drive as it is in the rain let alone at night potentially without windscreen wipers and head lights...?
