what do people think is the best and has been the most succesful sportsedan ;)

Riciardelos Alfa has to be the first that comes to mind. And of course my favourite, Des Walls Supra from early to mid 90's

i think that alfa has to be the most successful.

please oh please for the love of god come back to perth just imagine sporth sedans historic touring cars saloon cars hq's and the ute's (if there still around ) that would be a dream meeting but it would be great to see sports sedans back in w.a...............oh yeh go tony :p

Graham Smiths turbo Fiat was a weapon. Very underated

I cant just name 1, out of the older sports sedans, the Colonge Capri of Allan Moffat, the Corvair of Frank Gardiner, with Allan Grice at the wheel. Tha Alfa of Tony Edmundson, and the Jagur XJS of John McCormack. Then you would have the 300zx's of Keith Carling/Kerry Baily, Tamasi's calibra, The Supra and Corvette of Des Wall. And in the future that Aston that Kerry is building looks pretty good. Would like to see some more pics of that

The Honda driven by John Briggs in 1996 went through undefeated. Charlie Senese has the car now. Remember the Monza driven by Allan Grice and Peter Brock in the mid 1980's? That car was a real weapon. That chassis is under Des Walls Supra now and I heard a rumour that Des wants to restore it to the Monza?? Maybe Des can reply to confirm. Des also has the HDT Torana in the shed in pieces doing a resto. That was a good jigger in it's day.
Mark Trenowith has the Original Jag XJS and he restored to original unipart colours.
The most successful car bar none though is Tony R's Alfa. That should be kept by Basil forever and put in a museum when they cease racing it. I reckon it will still be winning for another 10 years though.
Going back to the original chassis cars I always loved the Richards Falcon hardtop. Some of the running gear (2 gearboxes) is in the Waldon Commodore I believe. In those days the rule stated gearbox attached to engine, so they put a 2 speed there and then a full transaxel down the back. Smart thinking.
And then there was big Petes Craven Mild Monaro. Anthony MacReady has that up the back of his shed gathering dust. It is missing vital components sadly.

There is a couiple of great cars mentioned there that could make the historic series great if it happens...

The black JPS BMW 318i turbo that Jim Richards raced was one of the best cars in my opinion even though some might not see it as a 100% Sport Sedan because of a few little differences.
Ok I am biased with it being a BMW but that car was an absolute beast. The metre long flames that thing would shoot out the exhaust along with 19 inch by 13 inch rear wheels it had back in 1982 was surely something special! Plus it was actually leading the series until it had the massive shunt with the Brock Monza at AIR all those years ago.

It also deserved respect in the sense that the technology of the time was really against a turbo car as they were by no means as easy to setup or consistent in their tunning thanks to the lack of programmable electronic fuel injection systems back then. Plus turbo hardware was very limited and not all that great compared to what we have today either.
