Just watched a clip on youtube of Mikacs RX7. God i love that car and im not a fan of rotors....Any chance he still has that car and if so is he a chance of running it any time soon? I hope so i remember this thing other than the chevs being the quickest car on the track in the mid to late 90s...

last time i spoke to ivan he had no money to be doing it.
his son nick drives the car at wakefield sometimes for a bit of fun. Would be a great addition to the current state series. THat car did a 33 from memory at eastern creek. which would put it on pole at the state round.
i think he also had the shits about the whole weight rules that came in which affected his car in a negative way, when a car like that needed these rules to help it not hinder it.

The weight issue was and is bullshit.
The min weight for a 20B engined car was actualy lighter than Ivans car weighed, I used Ivan's car as the test case and he was not affected at all. He did not have to add one kilo to the car. It was our intention to keep him competitive. Still it will not produce 700 hp so it will always be a case of a good small car that can still not beat a good big car.......until it rains. I remember a certain 20B Mazda of Chris Muscat lapping me in the rain at Phillip Island 50K plate some years ago. It won by a mile...or 3.

really?? glad i know that now. i listened to all this carry on about how that car would now be uncompetitive, never bothered to actually look as it wasnt my problem.
a bit off track but same sorta thing as phil said, remember when youlden drove i thyink it was the centreline car at phillip island?? he nearly cleaned em all up in the dry! i watched him drive around the outside of monterosso coming down the fast back left hander, was awesome.

Ahh the silver bullet! Shame he stopped racing it, he still owns it. That was a real weapon in Chris and Luke's hands.

The Centreline car is the Chris Muscat owned car Phast Phil commented on. Amazing car, so many problems for the first few seasons but once they got it sorted...WOW!

So the Centreline car is a different one to Luke Chambers yellow RX7?
Yeah it is a shame Ivan doesn't run his car much anymore, always put on a good show and if memory serves me correct didn't he place third in the championship one year?
Berry Polovic (I think he is related to Ivan not 100% sure) runs a very similar car with a turbo motor in the NSW state championship from time to time, goes pretty well at state level.
Would be good to get more rotarys out there again for some variety, just out of interest what is the minimum weight for a naturally aspirated 3 rotor?

3551 to 4500 cc is 975 kilo race weight including fluids and driver.
2501 -3550 is 900 kilo
What is the CC size for a 3 rotor?
