Sports Sedan racing weights

I would like people’s opinions on this as a change to the rules.
I believe it will be raised at the NSSC meeting at the request of Victoria.
It looks much fairer to me but I would like to understand if it would unfairly
Disadvantage anyone.
I think it is a win win.


Remove weight table and replace with
Calculation ( Engine Capacity in CC's) X ( .09468 Kg's ) + ( 557 Kg's )
Minimum weight 680Kg's

(The following is just an easy way of seeing the afect the change would have.
this would not need to be added to the rules)

sounds great, does that mean we get to be 1125 kg's again? 3.5L twin turbo?

Interesting. One of my previous cars, the Rotary 13B Escort (full bodied car) that I sold to Travis Edwards weighed 950kg's with me in it. (There wasn't much I could do about removing weight from it though....) I could have tried to get 50kgs out of it, but it would have compromised the strength of the chassis.

With this proposal, I could run it at just over 800kgs.

I suggest it would be even more of a projectile at this weight, but not so sure I'd be keen to sit my backside in it!

It this stage I do not know of any proposals to change the Turbo or Multi-valve tables.
I believe that in the cams rules, a cars capacity is the value after turbo and rotary calculations.

After entering .09468 into a calculator’s memory it takes way less than 10 seconds
To calculate the Minimum weight limit of a car.

Your point would seem to be more about rotary issues than capacity / weight ????
This proposal was aimed squarely at a fairer capacity/weight outcome.

ok well first problem is that these weight tables were based around a few cars. Namely people like bobbies rx7 and ivans rotary etc.
the one in particular being bobbies, it was set for that car to be 975kg as it was proven at that weight to be mighty competitive. if we use your weight tables he can drop another 100kg which would make that car firstly extra stupidly quick and secondly.... dangerous. Well dangerous unless it was made out of unobtanium material. Which we dont want happening as the weight rule was partly put in to stop big money materials being used and hence keeping costs down.

2000X1.7 = 3400 3400X.09468+557 = 879kg's

and this is coming from me who ultimately wants bobbies exact setup. i firmly believe a 2L car built right should win the championship.

and if i can find 65k, one just might! lol

This again would seem not to be a problem with the Capacity/ weight Calculation?

If I am understanding you correctly you are say that a

2000cc T X1.7 = 3400 Then 3400cc X.09468+557 = 879kg's

Has a to greater advantage over a

3400cc n.a. = 3400cc x .09468 + 557 = 879 kg’s

I’m not going to go there as that is clearly a turbo issue and there is nothing fair
About putting weight on naturally aspirated cars in an attempt to slow down or equalise
Turbo cars.

People like yourself should be formulating how to parallel the performance of Turbo against
Naturally aspirated cars. BUT in a FAIRER way.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wouldn't a 2 litre turbo car be 900kg because it's not hit with the 75kg due to this.

'add 75kg to the above weights for vehicles above 2501cc swept volume'

Swept volume not capacity, so that would be the cars true capacity of 2000cc not 3400cc?
