Oran park October round

Gees the forum has been a bit boring lately......same ole same ole, no controversy, no startling news.

Fair bit of crash damage from round 3. From my view (coming through from near rear of field) I saw some very average driving. As a matter of fact it was rare to see one car pass another without contact and damage. Maybe we need to get more racing to learn to drive a bit better. Main problem seems to be taking the wide entry into a corner and then seeing the gap shut suddenly without the driver on the outside even looking to see if anyone has snuck up the inside. Best way to avoid that is when someone is on your tail do not give them the temptation by opening the gap for them....stick to mid track or if they are faster let them through (unless it is the last lap or 2...sorry Trent).

I had good dices with Trent young, Chris Donnelly, Shane bradford, Elvis Barnes, Chris Jackson, Tony R (when he came through from rear of field) and maybe one or 2 others that I cant recall. Thanks to those guys for showing respect for their own and others equipment. Sorry to say that 1 or 2 others that I saw were not that impressive but thankfully not near me at the time.

Who is going to Oran park for round 4. Shame it is a state series standing start. Should have been rolling start like all the other rounds to get some more cars on the grid. Too much drive train damage happens at standing starts.

I'll be going out to watch at Oran Park again, hope the state series gets some more numbers because the last round at Wakefield last weekend wasn't very well supported.

Standing starts still have their place in my opinion, I reckon it would take a fair bit of skill to get some of the monster cars that run in the national series off the line well. Each to his own I suppose.

Maybe a certain Calibra should gets some bigger mirrors on it. Seemed to be people with a 6/10's driving ability driving 12/10's.

Phil you forgot the tight entry washing wide on exit. Turn one looked like Paramatta speedway there a few times.

I will be there just the sunday.... Hope to see some great cars out there, noticed Bill Martin is now running after a few years out but now with a falcon... Seems as though there are some upset heads from the last round...

As long as nothing catastrophic happens at the Island next weekend, we'll be going up for a spin. Seeing as Damian can't make it this time, better have at least one Torana there...

Yeah I will be sitting in a plane on the way to the SEMA Show in USA............................ :(
We even tried to change our flights to leave direct from Sydney on Sunday night as we enjoyed the last round so much.
Anyway good luck to everyone and hope to see a FULL grid at Phillip Island in November for the final round (including a rolling start for Phast Phil!).

We're bringing the Camaro and the Falcon down from QLD for Island Magic toranaracer, can you turn on some good Queensland weather for us for that one please? ;)

I think Big Col Smith and Bobby are coming down to Oran Park for another tilt in October, so that should be another cracking meeting.

And Mr. Boost, mate you did a great job last meeting, 14's (nearly a 13) at OP is not slow at all. You'll be mixing it with the lads no problem, don't sell yourself short. I had many a cracking dice with Geoff Gillespie up here in QLD when he used to have the mighty Fiat, even though it's a pretty basic car I know it goes very hard indeed :)

Thanks FalconEL, i had an absolute ball in that last race even though i spent it on my own. The best i had done at oran before that meeting was a 17 so a 14.1 on the 3rd last lap was a massive improvement. Mainly due to finding a heap of horsepower.

the car isnt quite what it was when jeff had it. Smaller brakes, old shocks, a little less power (different head on engine) although its getting closer! and no mr manning.

i just need some more time back in the seat. i lost so much time at the start of the races trying to keep out of peolpes way letting peolpe through who i turned out to be faster than once i got going. i guess having a better idea of where the car is at now will give me a better idea of when someone is going to rocket past or if i can hold them out.

the calibra will definately be there, we have actually built 2 front ends incase the unthinkable happens AGAIN! he hadnt had a crash since 2006 at o.p and before that it was like in the 90's so to have 2 in the 1 year from a broken steering arm and jammed throttle sucks!

the fiat needs a bit of work, its stareting to fall apart. cracks in the chassis need welding, the wastegate needs to be moved to control the boost propely and we are going to try to move the tops of the struts to get some more camber on those front tyres, the car was built for cross plys not radials but they dont make crossplys in that size no more.

really hope bobby makes it he was looking real good in that second race
