General Discussion about CAMS based VIC / TAS Sports Sedan Series

Phillip Island Round 5

Righto, now I know it's a long way away but I reckon that can only be a good thing?
The last Kerrick round for the year is at the best track in the country. Unfortunately for the Vic state guys it's 2 weeks after our state round there and 3 weeks before Island magic. It's a big ask but hopefully we can still talk a few of them into running all 3?
Now, for all these new cars being built and getting tested at the end of this year, what a perfect opportunity. Friday practice at the Island (or the October state round if you're ready) then have a test race meeting at the last round of the year. It'd be great to finish the year off with a huge field.
There's just under 12 weeks to save some cash and do some work.
I'm hoping to have enough in the piggy bank to do all 3. However, if there's someone out there who has a Cams licence and is not completely retarded, and thinks they can do an ok job in the old girl, for the sake of the numbers i'll hand over the Torana so long as you pay the entry and running costs for the weekend. (Fuel, entry and tyres).
How about it, maybe Phast Phil could try having a go in a holden???

Phillip Island Round 5

We are looking to a big finish to the end of the year and Kerrick will be hosting a presentation dinner at Phillip Island on Sunday evening following the racing to present the series trophies.

All team members that competed in the 2011 series are welcome and subsidised as are other team members on a full cost per head basis.

If you are going and have not yet advised please email Phil on sportssedan21@bigpond.com to reserve your seat/table.

We already have an indication of a strong field at PI so the racing will be worth the trip down also if you are spectating. Dates are from friday 4th to Sunday 6th November.

The battle for 2nd and 3rd for the series is far from over and expect Bradford, Camm, Butler and Hossack to be in contention for the remaining 2 steps on the series presentation podium.

I will send out entry forms in a few weeks so start readying your chariots for the big grand final weekend at Phillip Island.

Phillip Island Round 5

Postby toranaracer » Mon Sep 05, 2011 10:04 pm

So who is coming to Phillip Island for the final Kerrick National Series round?

I have changed my plans from a fully paid work trip to SEMA in Las Vegas to come and race the Torana for one last time at Phillip Island B)

This will be our final round as we are taking a break after 14 years straight of self funding and will only be doing a few selected events in 2012 (Bathurst and MCM if it happens again!) :(

Now unless someone has any leads for a sponsor for us in 2012 things may change ;)

Thankyou to Phast Phil for his ongoing support of the U3500NA class and hopefully some new blood can step up next year to keep the class alive.

OK, so after an overwhelming response to my offer, we've signed up someone to drive the Torana at the Island for the last round.
Lauren Gray had a test out at Calder today and did a mighty job. In fact I think she's probably quite a bit quicker than me. (the weight advantage and the fact I can't drive and she can helps a lot)
I believe this might be the first time a female has raced in the Kerrick series? Someone correct me if i'm wrong..

So, who else is going?

I read that they are having an open day on the Thunderdome later this month for Nascars, Auscars, Sportsmans etc.

Hey Jd, I think the open day is not till November? They are doing a heap of work there. The dragstrip is no longer part of the circuit. You go around the old gloweave and down the pit lane. It is yet to be resurfaced (supposedly happening in the next few weeks) so it's REALLY bumpy. But still good fun. There is talk of the track regaining it's CAMS permit. If so, maybe we will end up having a round there (state at least). Would be great.
