And here are some current pictures of the giant killer.

Its sad that some poor sole has stripped the poor thing of its goodies and left it in such poor condition, nevertheless i will endeavour to bring it back to its former glory!

Hello I was just reading with interest the Datsun build I think Mike Griffin does own ichiban like in a previous reply,I have a mechanic friend of mine that used to work with Griffo including on his 120y sports sedan, his name is Phil Gibson he has his own workshop in Penrith Nsw he can
be contacted on 4731 5199, just say Michael Mecsery recommended you to talk to him, he loves sports sedans just like all of us on here.Hope this helps a bit.

Good luck with the rebuild Steve,
Mallala is putting on an event for Historic Sports Sedans at its Easter Historic meeting, would be great to see the car there...
Would be a good date to aim for :D

Steve, looks like progress is going well.
By sounds of it you are looking to get it logbooked as a Historic Sports Sedan, Group U
There are a few now fully logbooked, with a few more about to be.
There is no "association" of us historic SS guys, but we are all pretty much on the same wavelength.
At the HRCC Qld meetings, we encourage these cars, even if it is not fully logbooked, but your paperwork/application etc is in with CAMS, you can race it under specific permit.
In 2013 there will be two meetings at Morgan Park, where they combine the U's with C & A, just like they combine JKL, or MQ&R race cars.
( the C& A guys get a bit toey, when an old ss wins "their" races though.

A few of us are trying to get the U cars accepted at the bigger events like Phillip Island Classic, especially when with a max grid of 50, and only 35 C&A, you'd think we could get a run! BUT there are too many influencing voices in that lot, it would seem.
