Hard to call from these photos, Darren does look close to the B pillar, I under stand Tony spent most of the day logging prostests at the stewards office, and the resault was a $5000 suspended fine and 60 seconds. Could be the end of Hossacks driving in sports sedans no doubt
to Tonys joy.

Thats a bit of a low call i think.

The Ricciardellos have been in the series for so long. I dont think that they would be happy if Darren didnt race and there was no competition. Bit pathetic really

I heard that Darren apoligized to the Ricca's team because of what he had done over the weekend.

If You keep racing this way then there will be High repair bills every meeting and people will stop racing.

The only official protest was in race 3. (i heard from a friend in Adelaide)

Stewards had given the penalty for the race 1 contact

Maybe its a wakeup call for Darren to drive farily and a reminder of the dangers in doing this.

I dont think John Gur would be happy repairing the Audi every race meeting either.

But good on to Darren for realising that he was in the wrong.

I think if we all wait untill the footage is shown on t.v,I have also heard there was an in car camera installed in hossacks car so some footage will hopefully make it to screen then we can take a closer look.I dont think (ROADS) making comments like hossack moving competitors out of his way is very constructive at all.We are all supposed to be getting along and not killing our own catergory from the inside.

SpeedShots were on the money with those photos, wow!

As for the bashing into each other yes its a bit counter productive but when these guys are racing so close sometimes its pretty much unavoidable, Suppose it comes back to how badly you want to win, even the greatest drivers in the world (Schumacher, Senna) pulled some questionable moves in their racing careers!

I think what we need to keep in mind, is that Darren was side by side with tony coming out of the northern hairpin and was then driven across the track into the dirt coming out of the left hander, I was there and saw all the dust coming up... he was a head of Tony going into the esses and on the inside... Tony then out brakes himself and turns across the front of the Audi and gets himself all crossed and spears off the track...?
In all honesty considering what has now happened, Darren should have protested for Tony turning across the front of his car in race one, but Darrens not one to run up to the stewards office everytime someone runs into him. You didnt see him run up to the stewards office when the Commodore run into the back of the Audi in race 2...

Race 3, I was standing at the end of Pit lane watching both cars coming down the pit straight directly towards me. Darren was on the inside and I thought you really need to be in front to get through there! As Darren mentioned the track was wetter there than the race line and Darren locked up and made contact with Tony... Darren then "sat there waiting" for Tony to get started (which I thought was an honorary thing to do?) but Tonys car wouldnt start, so he then gets going and continues the race. Tony's car then gets outside assistance, gets pushed off the track into pit lane, then has the jump battery connected to get the car started and contiues the race. As far as I was concerned outside assistance was not allowed? Darren then gets a drive through penalty for the turn 1 incident, ok... fair enough... he did something wrong and was then penalised... Then after the race Tony goes to the stewards, complains more, Darren then gets extra penalties because Tony's car wouldnt start and couldnt continue the race without outside assistance...??? Seems a bit unfair to me...

Basically-
Race1-
Darren WINS, but Tony has made contact with Darren at least twice and driven off him the track, then Tony goes off the track, stewards penalise Darren 28secs and put him down as 10tenth???

Race3- Darren makes mistake, admits guilt and does a drive through penalty. Then finishes the race 1st, he was cleary the faster car in the race and was going to win anyway... Then after the race Tony complains to the stewards and they penalise Darren AGAIN...? So now he gets a drive through, a 60secs penalty added to his time and a $5000 suspended sentance!? Thats not Double Jeopardy... Its Triple Jeopardy!?

Basically Darrens had 2 wins and a second, probably would have won the 3rd race had he not started from the rear of the grid and had the back of the car damaged?

The racing was great to watch and cant wait to see the TV footage! I guess the real dissapinting thing is that Darren got penalised for race1 that wasnt his fault, and then he made a mistake in race 3, which cost Tony a heap of positions. Darren admitted fault and I personally saw him apologise to Basil. I dont think he should have got any time penalties, and especially the $5000 suspended fine.

As of Sunday night (unless something drastically changes) Darren told me he wont be back racing Sports Sedans anymore. He said the $5000 fine is ridiculous, which I agree, and all he needs is for someone to drive into him again and complain and then he has to cough up the money. I think unfortunately we have lost the best car in the field and pretty much the best driver. I think we should spend more time racing on the track and less time in the stewards office. I see this as a HUGE loss to the category and hope that something can be done to at least have the fine waived and get the Audi back on the track. No offense to any competitors, but with out Darren and the Audi there I dont see the racing being as interesting as it has been... :( I had just spent a heap of money and some very early mornings to get the car ready for Mallala, and Ian Wilson (driver) wants to do the rest of the rounds so lets all get togther and get as many cars on the track as we possibly can! Would be great to go to Oran Park and have 20+cars on the Grid!!

That is really sad that it would get to that point....

roads its really uncanny how you know things so quick from EVERY meeting that always has something to do with tony??? in such detail too... must have ur friend from adelaide going everywhere???

if you werent there, shut-up. Stop making ur stupid analysis, the only people who should comment are people who saw it. you have no opinion as you have nothing to base it on other than others opinions. unless... you saw it?

sorry just sick of it like most others here.

photos pretty obvious to what happened there.
Darren's doing a god job to move his competitors out of the way.

Maybe darren was feeling the pressure. trying to race SS and the Karts. Over driving in both it seems.

Did you read what top gear wrote? Tony R left the door open the turned into the side of the audi...

My friend told me Darren was driving well over the weekend, Tonys was a bit over the place.
