So true Rotorboi. The thing is that if they were building a new car no one would ever know about it (except for Roads ;)). They are very secret squirrel.

OK Nadz, you got me here. Try this link for a full run down of the build so far:

http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/263854/256508.html?1254711141

Make a cuppa and and kick back, because there are something like 8 archived pages of posts dating back to the beginning of the thread. Ignore the message that says the thread is closed; it is still very much alive.

The car is a '91 Toyota Soarer and is being constructed as a floorpan car. It will be on track for the 1st round of the NSW Championship next year, pending sponsorship.

It looks like the finish line is in sight Toymax. It is fantastic that you have gone through and documented the whole process, made for a very interesting read.Out of curiosity do you know how the restoration of the old Doug Clark Celica Sports Sedan is coming along?

Thanks jd. We've put a fair amount of effort into documenting everything, in the hope of generating some interest in the category and perhaps some sponsorship too.

As for the Celica, the rebuild is going quite well. The roll cage and a couple of other minor things are all that are left to install. The body, engine and gearbox are all done. The car will be ready to do some historic races early next year, with the plan to put Doug Clark back into the car for the Muscle Car Masters at Eastern Creek next September. It was supposed to happen this year but the car wasn't ready in time. Here's what it will look like:

Interesting to read on another forum (assuming you read this Profi) that Mark Petch is in the process of building a Viper TraNZam / Sports Sedan in NZ at the moment. Mark states that he is intending on bringing the car over next year to run in some selected rounds of the Championship with Kane Scott at the wheel. Considering Marks experience and skill of building race cars (his Vette did just win the championship here) you would expect this combination to be very very very quick. Some more good news for the championship in 2010.
