It would be worth approaching speed hunters about covering the national rounds, in the past they have done an article on my car.... if you write the articles like a race report, what's stopping them from publishing it.

As said before def good opportunity taken. I am still blown away how many people they got out there for it. I was out at Eastern creek last weekend for the GT's and it was an absolute ghost town with free entry.

Just a point on your comments Toyzda about not knowing that there was going to be a display. I never knew but the only way I would have known was if it was discussed on here, which it was not. I have mentioned this before and really strongly believe that this is a good idea and in the best interests of all current competitors, potential competitors, current fans and potential fans:

THERE NEEDS TO BE ONE SPORTS SEDAN FORUM.

It would be broken down into National, NSW, VIC and QLD. Then have the For Sale section even a Historic section. It would be cheaper for all concerned as the cost would be split amongst the 4 parties or 5 if you included the U2L guys. The VIC forum is barely utilised and the QRDA is not Sports Sedan specific. The NSW website irregularly gets updated and does not have a forum anyway.

It is a win win situation for everyone. More people in the one space means more momentum. Look at the biggest motor forums on the net and they are all divided up in similar manner. eg SAU. It would be a one stop shop for any Sports Sedan news, regulations, calendars etc.

Forums can be set up to have private members section for News Letters too.

^^^ agreed.

I retraced all my steps trying to find info about the display. I had a little red flag in my head remembering something about a superlap display. I did find it and remembered skipping over it the first time uninterested because I don't like superlap.

It was mentioned on the NSW SS website, hidden in a news bulletin that takes about four pages to get to. Quite informative about the pending display, just too hard to find.

Honestly i don't believe i can fault the SS bodies with promoting this event. Yes maybe it could have been better, but any promotion is more than precious years.

However, I am quite shocked that people in this forum were involved with organising / participating in the display and they did not create a thread for it?? It should have been a hot topic, especially considering the amount of guests browsing these posts.

The main thing to take from this event is WAS a great effort and we need more of it and maybe we can create more hype by talking about it.

I don't think there was much point because the main aim of the display was to expose the class to new people. Most of the crowd at Superlap wouldn't have known much about Sport Sedans, some wouldn't of known they even existed!
People on this forum know where to see Sport Sedans race and more then likely have over the last 12 months or so. I doubt a static display of cars that most people have already seen race would be of much interest to the limited number of active members of the forum.

As for the guests maybe perhaps it was a lost opportunity but surely they'd head to a race meeting if they were seriously interested in the class? Don't know maybe I am wrong.

Yeah would be a great idea as that website is very popular and covers an awesome variety of motorsport that doesn't get mainstream coverage e.g Japanese GT, FIA GT, ALMS, Nurburging 24 hour, etc, etc

What did you have to do for your car Liam, just send them some good pics and a basic rundown on it or did you write the story?

For the benefit of Walt Kowalski and any others that are interested in the heavy metal SS class (2WD) it would be great to get some clarification of the rules for this class at a state level. The regulations that are published under the competitor section of this site is not the same as what CAMS define as a HMSS.
The only thing the cams manual has to say is:
1.1(b)Two Wheel Drive (2WD) Floorpan Vehicle: A heavily modified two wheel drive production vehicle that utilises the standard factory sheetmetal including roof, pillars, door sills and the majority of the cockpit floor section.

No talk of unmodified guards or not running flares or not modifying floorpans to add suspension points. In fact IMHO i believe that the line majority of the cockpit floor section would allow for localized modifications for such purposes.

The rules as published by this site are far more restrictive and I cannot find any refence to them on the CAMS web site - bulletins, regulations or otherwise.

Also the sporting regulations as linked to on this site are for the 2009 series and not the 2010 series.
The 2010 sporting regulatios can be found here:
2010 regulations
There is no mention of a HMSS category within the 2010 regulations

Gazman,
The HMSS and U3500NA classes were introduced into the Kerrick National Series to try and entice more of these types of vehicles to compete within the Shannons Series.
I am sure Phast Phil can provide you with the specifics of the regulations as they would be part of the series eligibility documentation for the Kerrick National Sports Sedan Championship.
Whilst it has not had great support so far, it has been great to see the National category try some initiatives to increase the number of cars by giving us "smaller" cars something to realistic be able to win.
We have comitted to the entire National calendar in U3500NA only because this class was introduced this year.
If it was to be carried over to 2011 we may very well do another full year.
Each State Championship has and can promote classes they feel will entice competitors to keep coming back for more.

My apologies for not making sure the correct sporting regs were not attached to the competitors section. The latest version (3) will be attached soon as will amendments one that covers the powers of the tech commissioner.

The Heavy Metal series is a class within a series and runs on a defined set of limitations unique to that class. It is not a CAMS approved class but a trophy class within the Kerrick series that is meant to be a feeder class. The limitation for competitors in this series are in the competitors section and are not found elsewhere.

Having said this we have had poor support from those who were meant to support and if further interest is not shown soon then we may drop the HM class in 2011 and concentrate on the under 3500cc and open series. In other words HM guys....GOYA's as I cannot run a race with one (or less) competitor.

I didn't do much at all, just sent them some pictures and info on the car.... they weren't to concerned on how large the pictures were as they scale them down. A bloke from Australia actually wrote the article, fancied up the info i had given him, the website is fundamentally based around pictures so you don't need huge amounts of info. I see it as a great opportunity for the class.
