Certainly does look a little over the top.

With that pic from AIR HTC. I would think that is from the Twin State Challenge meet in 82, one of the earliest appearances of Dick Wards RX7. Is the red and yellow Escort, Cos Monterosso's on the left hand side?

The red and white Escort is Wayne Sutton's I assume.

I remember the O/P Miller/Said days The escort was immaculate, even the undertray was polished. He used to pull some ugly revs in that thing trying to hang on to Joe.

Too good JD. yeah thats him and and thats the race. Louie DeLouca is there in the Anglia and a few others ive forgotten their names.
JD you wouldnt have any photos of Edmonson's Alfa when it is is in the red, white green livery especially with the 19" rims at the rear. I see it to right of the Davies Escort in that shot, i think it looked its best then.

Recognise this one??

That's the ex Andrew Forsdick / Mary Pryor car from Queensland. Both Andrew and Mark drove the car for a few seasons before selling it a few years back.
By their own admissions it was a budget racer sporting a mild rotary engine.

I think it may have run some AASA events as photographed here but is now probably sitting in a shed somewhere.

We have touched on these before in various threads but they are quite confusing. Can anyone clarrify or add to some of the front running Mk1's over there years:

1) John English Bryan Byrt Escort: Sold to Peter Dane in 82 to become a Thomson Ford Escort. Was then sponsored by QBE and driven by Vernon?? Did this then end up with Jamie Miller before ending up in Byron as mentioned on here?
2) Dr Ian Corness Bryan Byrt Escort: Sold to John Lord to also become a Thomson Ford Escort. Then what?
I think the Dr Iain Corness car is the one Ken House has owned since the mid '80
he contacted me during the early'90s trying to find the car.
3) John Bassett Globe Escort: Raced by Ian Gow in the early 80's and now under ownership by the lucky Escortman, but who were its other owners?
4) Gary Rogers Escort: Originally Bill Fannings before being sold to Gary. Raced a large part of its life by Rob Davies in Tas and now also with Escortman, but who else raced this?
5) Sigley Escort: Dominated in Qld in the 80's.
6) Tony Wilson Escort: SRC sponsored in red and white livery and raced in NSW into the late 90's
7) Allan Moffat Escort: Originally a Alan Mann factory car. Supposedly a V8 Sports Sedan in Qld but which one?
The Allan Moffat car I believe was crushed as it came here for a specific period for Ford. Jeff Groves told me this and should have known as he worked at Ford in Geelong in the developement department and I bought the full floating Escort diff with the Detroit locker from the Moffat car. Jeffs car had afew of the Moffat bits in it . I know this as Jeff and I ran against each other in the late seventies and early eighties.
8) Phil Ward Escort: Built by Phil (Black & silver) Sold to Monterosso, then onto Newbound, damaged heavily in a big accident and possible reshelled. Still with the English clan??
9) Ken House Escort: Has Ken always owned this?
This was Ken's 2nd Escort his first one was purchased from Russell Nobel who owned the car and was 2litre powered.Prior to Russell this car was owned by Stewart Humphries from Benalla who worked at Winton then The Light car Club of Australia before the went broke! That car had been fitted with avariety of engines including a red motor!

10) Tony Herbert Escort: Raced in NSW from 84.
11) Michael Jacobson Escort: Raced in NSW & VIC in the early 80's.
My old car started life out as 1300 shopping car then in '79-80 was converted to a simple race car and was developed from there through to having a 13B peripheral port engine. Then I sold it to Len Catlin in 1990 since then I have lost contact with it. I would be interested to know where it is these days if anyone can help?
12) Glenn Seton Escort: Built by Bo, raced by Tony Apps and then Falcon EL. Were there other owners Chris? Or was this the Sigley car??

There were plenty of others including Ken McGann, Craig Kinmonth, Jeff Groves, Bridge....

The Jeff Groves car went to Adelaide with Jeff when he moved there during the mid '80s from memory. Don't know much more.

There was the car that Brian Winsall owned then sold to Colin Smith who wrote it off at Calder. He then bought the car John Chambers father Geoff started but never finished a very light car that would have been quite competitive and as far as I know Colin still hasn't completed it!

Welcome to the forum Mike, always good to hear from a horses mouth. Looking back at old magazines it is amazing how many race meetings you did in that Escort and you were generally up the pointy end with it.

I have updated the Escorts below. There is definintely still a question mark over those Thomson Ford Escorts on which is which. I will have to dig up some more clippings

Updated
1) John English Bryan Byrt Escort: Sold to Peter Dane in 82 to become a Thomson Ford Escort.
2) Dr Ian Corness Bryan Byrt Escort (1980): Sold to John Lord (1981) to also become a Thomson Ford Escort. Then John Vernon (1983), Trevor Bridge (1983), Jamie Miller (1983), Brad seagrove (1999), Matthew Gillespie (2001) and currently with Stephen Vines.
5) Tony Wilson Escort: SRC sponsored in red and white livery and raced in NSW into the late 90's
6) Allan Moffat Escort: Originally a Alan Mann factory car. Supposedly a V8 Sports Sedan in Qld but which one?
7) Phil Ward Escort: Built by Phil (Black & silver) Sold to Monterosso, then onto Newbound, damaged heavily in a big accident and possible reshelled. Still with the English clan??
8) Ken House Escort No2: Purchased from Russell Nobel and owned prior by Stewart Humphries
9) Tony Herbert Escort: Raced in NSW from 84.
10) Michael Jacobson Escort: Raced in NSW & VIC in the early 80's. Sold on to Len Caitlin
11) Glenn Seton Escort: Built by Bo,`sold to Tony Sigley, owned by Tony Apps and raced by Brent Lydon, then Chris Donnelly. Now owned by Travis Edwards.
12) Jeff Groves Escort: Bits of Moffat's Escort in it.
13) The others Kinmonth, Frank Taylor...

Thanks for the compliment, you obviously have a good memory. After all that was a lifetime ago or at least it feels like it!
Sorry guys i miss led you, memory returned, Ken House's car is actually the Tony Herbert/John Vernon, (I think they may have beeen in partnership) car which of course was one of the Bryan Byrt cars.
