What am i doing?

More like what are you doing? .... hit the track in that vg30 powered escort yet?....

HTC is one i know of who runs or was going to run a vg30 last time i spoke to him. Not sure on many others tbh perhaps there are more out there.

There is also the VG30DETT which is the 4 valve twin turbo deal. Maybe someone runs one of these?

Keith Carlings 300zx ran the VG30DETT, was it 3 litres or did they reduce the engine size to 2.5 litres to meet the rules of the day. It is same motor as in this video isn't it?

I think your right about the carling car. Pretty sure it was a 4 valve vg30DETT. Certainly had enough go in a straight line!!

As a side note i also think the IMSA era was awesome. There are some great videos online of some very close racing. They always seemed to go down to the wire.

The above vid is music to my ears that is for sure!!

Hey 2J great to see how your car is progressing. Its looking good. I have the engine together now after the problems i had earlier. The engine we will be using is the turbo engine with Electromotive crank and girdle as this has Chev size journals this allows us to use Chev off the shelf rods. Had to rejig all the rockers to align with the cam buckets as the Electomotive heads we use are all different.
Electromotive had different heads cast up to suit the 2.5 litre 2.9 litre and 3.1 litre (nice when you have money) as you know i had bought a heap of there engines in pieces and all the stuff i thought would be interchangeable isnt. I had some 2.5 litre heads and was trying to fit them to the 3.1 litre block. Looked ok and bolted up nice but then the inlet manifolds and top end dont fit. If you go to my website www.turbobags.com.au you will see some of the parts we use in the engine.

Good stuff HTC. Can't wait to see your rig flying down the race track. I will give you a call soonish about some gear :)

Another quick update / pics.

Front spoiler pretty much done and ready for moulds to be taken. Those with a keen eye will notice the lack of fog light like the original GT300 supra.

We did this as its a bit more aero dynamic and also because we had to fit in with the rules. The way in which it has been done is so that it is reversible once the mould has been taken so all is not lost.

Alrighty..... now we are down to making the moulds from the car. We are starting with the roof as we already had a partial mould but we have added a few bits to make it alot nicer when we finally lay finished panels out of it.

Here are the action shots -

The roof mould before modification

PVA mould release sprayed on.

Clay used to build edges up so the various moulds can be joined together.

Tooling gel coat down

Laying up the mould

Also some more bits landed at my door today..... twin stage rear end pump with pulley / rebuild kit / Yoke (billet ally, 1350 unis etc ) got a bargain on them too which helps!!

The pump will be used for transmission and diff cooling.

The door surround mould totally finished with bracing etc.

Tilton Pedal box and Reservoir. The pedals have a balance bar and all that stuff hooked up for remote bias adjustment.

Master cylinders are Tilton with AN4 fittings.
