Do you understand the only reason it works in V8s is because of the economics that it generates .

I see a class that at least half the field does it as a hobby on the skins of there asses .

If you are going to do this who will buy your franchise off you when you finnish .

What is your market potential ? Have most of the teams the ability to commit to every round no matter what happens in there life or pay a fine ?

Wouldn't it be better to try a get into the bigger meetings and establish a marketable product again first ?

V8 Supercar had to start somewhere!!!

Before we all go putting the cart before the horse and talking about franchises, fines, etc. it might be prudent to wait for the actual details from Phil before looking negatively at the proposal.

Who knows, the "contract" might well be something along the lines of paying for your 5 x National Entry Fees up front which in the overall scheme of running these cars is not that expensive.

I think its a pretty good idea because generally speaking if you have put your money down you will more than likely turn up than if you havent put any money down.

Could not agree more. For too long it has been too easy for people to make big promises and then not follow through. I know of a number of competitors who committed to five rounds of the 2011 series only leave their car in the shed all year! I'd hate to be trying to budget for a series when you have no idea of your annual income.

I don't believe anyone will be expected to "buy" a series entry or franchize type arrangement. I imagine those competitors who commit to the 2012 series will sign a "contract" to race. It needs to be legally binding along the lines that if you don't race, you can sell your entry or you still have to pay the fee.

Most competitors can't afford to pay all the entry fees at the start of the year so a binding contract might encourage a few more to keep their promises.

I love to hear the positive (not) remarks from some people (whoever they are) who have never even given real consideration to entering our series.
Save your breath famous as I doubt if you would ever be an entrant or future buyer.

And let me guess, you want to go to bigger meetings for what? I have never seen you at any meeting...big or small. And praytell, where are these bigger meetings? Oh the Bathurst one, the first and only one in how many years? The MCM was a one off and we do not do one-offs as a one off is not enough reason to build and invest in a good quality SS team.

All the other big meetings involve V8 supercars so good luck affording to get a run with them in order to stroke your ego.

As for the other more thought through comments thanks for your support and if we keep striving we will get there.

Roverboy is correct, I am not even contemplating budgeting for a 2012 series based on the hollow promises that have sent the precious sports sedan series broke never to return as we have known it. Do the Math as I have and you will understand why.

This would be a good idea as the way of paying for/part of the franchise. EG: say entries for 2 upfront, to be used after they have competed at the first 2 rounds. If damage is acquired at a meeting and then they miss a round then only 1 entry fee can be used.

If competitors have something that they have paid for already surely they will want to use it!!!

I think it will be a good idea to have something saying that these cars are going to run every round!!!

Doesnt matter if it is only 10 cars to start with, but it is a start!!

The Transam class will be good as well!! Never know Bernie may even bring the Jag back for a round and Mark may bring the Viper!!!

when we talk about easy to aquire cars with easy to aquire spare parts we arent talking about making the whole series like that right?

im all up for people like phil, riverside whoever to make these 'professional' cars to run in our series as long as they dont become the whole series and all our normal
cars can still run. Otherwise we would basically be the tryhard 'car of the future' without factory backing or sponsorship.

At least next year is definately looking up already, nats will have phil back and most likely one senese, most likely an aston? and the coxy saab.
trent wont be coming back i believe.
Do we have any idea who is putting there hand up to go round again next year?
tony/darren? we are losing the most dedicated nationalist for a year next year in his torana.

im very interested to see the dates and what meetings are proposed for next year?
the trans am cup will be good, getting more and more of them in.

And on a side note falclcon el, it costs a shitload moer to do a national round than a state round! like more than double (triple if you want to be half competitive and have new tyres each round)
You guys must either have very expensive state rounds or all your state tracks are a million miles from your home anyway

Holy s*** ive worked out a way to help keep the category going in years to come!

we need to start a breeding program!
Yes thats right, we all love our sports sedans to the bone, and the best way to infuse it in other people is to make that little person ourselves and put sport sedan pictures in their cots!

If we all have at least 2 kids now, in 16 years they will all get there cams licence and be racing sports sedans! our grids will double!

work is paying me to write this crap right now........

We have managed to lean our spending right down to where it costs only the additional fuel to travel to each track.

Using "old" tyres teaches you how to conserve their longevity to allow you to play more often B)

Playing with everyone in the same tyre boat was the best fun I had at MCM B)

After all, if you really want to race, it can be done ;)

Trent Young did say not too long ago that he was rebuilding the rx7 with input from glenn seton, but then stated on facebook not long ago that he wanted to sell the car in pieces.... I wonder what made him change his mind???, maybe he is havin too much fun in aussie race cars..

Phil I think you missed my point because as always you guys are to busy taking swipes at me .

My comment is that running at meetings like the Muscle car spetacular at Eastern Creek or the Shannons Muscle and Sports car at Queensland Raceway would seem to be were the people go and watch . Also Phil I didn't see you at many of the meetings I went to .

Runnig a series that combines maybe 4 major meetings that puts the class back into the public eye would be easier for the majority of people to commit to and help give them purpose to be there .

I have not spent a cent on my car as I have been running the Classic Transam and Production sports car in Australia because its to easy with the buisness commitments .

If Sportsedans ran at Lakeside and QR I would build a new car more then likely one of yours ? Please ring me Phil I think we need to talk .

torana racer

are you telling me you slept in a tent at the track and no accomodation costs?
are you telling me you never ate at a restuarant and cooked all your own meals?
are you saying shannons entries are the same as a state entry?
are you saying you never did friday practice and took off extra days at work to travel back and forth?

if this is the case i commend you, but i doubt you enjoyed your motorsport 'weekend' too much

and honestly if your running a national round on an old set of tyres getting hosed by your fellow competitors who have bought new tyres whats the point? i want to race with who i should be racing with!
i know this didnt happen to you torana racer but it would happen to me and if there was more support to your clas it would happen to you.
