To get it up to current spec SS will cost plenty!
It is a historic car, it will qualify for Group U historics, just pic one particular race it ran in, prior to December 1985, restore it to its then as raced condition, with access to original owner, it shouldnt be too hard.
You will need to support the race meet with documentary stuff, ie race program, race results sheets, pics on websites, articles in printed reports.
If the 1986 cams sticker has a log book number cams database will be able to issue a replacement logbook.
Ask original owner if he has any logbooks, pics, old results sheets etc.
The process of getting a new Historic logbook with a COD is now not that difficult.
I have done it with the ex Bruce "Smutty" Smith RX7, there are now sime five cars logbooked and elegible to run.
Cams has, on their recommendation, placed the U cars within the C&A cars, those guys are a bit precious, but the more we get, and the more we can start to request tjat cams historic commision step in, and ensure promoters include the U cars, we will get to run at the Historic meets.
HRCC Qld historic club has been running all three groups combined for last three years, with no issues, 'cept a bit of whinging, 'cos a sports sedan won "their"race!
Pm ,e if you need any info re the cams historic process, it is not hard, but for 2012 they delightfully put the whole process fee up to $950 from $660, a once off fee though!! Gggrrrr!, talk about turning potentials off.
If you could, PLEASE write a letter expressing ypur disgust at this fee hike, let them know what you have, and how much it has and will cost, and that the fee increase is a disincentive, and you will go race at AASA tracks only!!
Pm me the lettwr, i will pass it, along with the three others, to the Chair of the Historic Commission.
If these guys dont get to hear from us, they wont act for us.
