All well and good Phil, but it still doesn't explain why this round in particular isn't well supported by the drivers... Is there one particular reason why drivers tend to stay away from this round ????, what are the drivers inputs into the reasoning behind this???.

Had more entries at Mallala then we did at Phillip Island 2011.
There was only 2 registered entrants that missed Mallala, Cox blew an engine in testing a week prior and Mascadri still has damage from bathurst. All the others fronted however as we now know there was more than normal attrition.

Well with the entrant contracts that are now in place, I think this round will get bigger!!
Which will be good, as that Charger of Clems looks absolutely fantastic!!
Credit to Clem who has support this class through the years including the tough times!!
If we dont support it then guys like Top Gear would not have done what he and his mates did, with the help of John Gourlay's guys, and get his Falcon back together for Darren to race so he can get points.
I would love to see the national guys come down to Tassie and race and see these in the flesh!!
As there is a lot of interest that was shown when a few of the Vic guys came over last year to run in October, and it would only be better if the national guys came!!
All i can wish for is that this series gets stronger, so it goes back to a full national series, a round in every state.
So everyone can enjoy these cars in the flesh!!

Thanks

Phast Phil,
We felt so guilty that we could not come over and support the Mallala round as we have for the past few years.
We always enjoy the trip and the circuit, but it is seeing Clem and the Charger that stands out the most.
Maybe if more people had the passion such as Clem more cars would come out of damn sheds, travel and enjoy the experience of racing somewhere different.
So what if you come last, hell we have for the last two years but love going to different tracks and racing with different people.
If you are not going to support Phil and the National Series, why come on here and sh1t can it?

My five minute rant over.

Dameon did not have a great meeting. He thinks it is all superficial.

Have got to agree with Torana and Phil, Its an Australian Championship, more Queenslanders are contracted to the National series than any other state, therefore the tow was further than anyone elses. Clem is a great supporter of SS racing, and it is only fair that he gets a round of the Championship at his track.. Tony R has towed further than anyone else in the past decade that he has contested the Australian title(with no round in his home state) The contract idea WILL be the saviour of the National SS title. I look forward to the new National class cars being built and bought . Roll on 2012/13!!

woah woah woah, READ my post then have your carry on - girls

I asked why,
I didnt whinge about the distance, and when i am ready to run nationals i will be happy to do it - (although i dont know how you think its the same travel as phillip island?) But i wont be happy to do it when 5 years in a row again i have
no one to race with as theres 6 cars on the track.

I dont want it 'lopped' off because of its distance away, personally i always want it on the calender as it is an awesome track. I just want to know WHY we persist with it when obviously no one can be bothered to turn up to it. Go look at your statisitcs for the last 5 years.

Im quite happy for the reasons you stated to stay there, just didnt know what the go was when we get all this
talk thrown at us that if we dont front up we wont have a series anymore yet the series persist's
with a place that half the category doesnt ever turn up to. Nor does anyone from the state even
turn up. I just dont want to lose the series from something like that or lose kerrick from lack of
numbers when we could be somewhere else with more numbers thats all.

but if kerrick are happy and the series financially can survive, great! - but id still prefer a race at a s*** track with 30 cars than a great track with 10
heaven forbid that! strike me down! oh god im s*** canning the series? wtf?

Wasnt phillip island's problem a date clash last year?

And id hate for wakefield to be on the nationals list as its a terrible track for sports sedans - would much rather come visit sunny queensland tracks - with a turn up of course!

Wasnt having a personal attack at you Boost, as we do agree eye to eye on most things regarding this class.
We are both passionate about it.
And as I said Clem has supported this class for such a long time, and I hope that this class will support Clem for years to come.
We all love this class, and there will always be opinions that are never seen the same as another person.
But that is also the reason for the variety of cars and chassis builders.
This is the best class in Australia, and congrats to Phil and his team as this championship is going to get stronger each year and supported.
As I said before I hope that this does go back to a Full National Championship with a round in every state!!
Like it was back in the 70's/80's in the glory days of the sport.
Thanks

It was a well supported round MrBoost. Just unfortunately there were lots of car failures, us included. We started all 3 races but failed to finish any. There were only 2 not to turn up out of the entrants, which were for sound reasons not just laziness!
No one likes to have 6 cars running a final race, but last weekend was particularly bad for car failure, which can happen at any track!
We have been to Mallala 3 times with the nationals and havnt had a good run there at all, but we would happily return, especially thanks to Clems huge support four our category, just remember Sports Sedans are the main class at Mallala over the V8's, Porsche's etc!
