Changing the Rotary multiplyer to 1.74 = 12a in u2L

the weights for u2L SS seperate series is the same as the CAMS SS rules - ie: 780kg inc driver for 1601-2000. At the moment 12a is only 20kg heavier, but so is the 13b.

I don't see many building up a 12a trying to beat the 2L cars as it would be less power. But including the 12a into u2L may let some of the older cars with 12a's race other similarly powered cars.

I think they should get rid of the rotary multiplier altogether and run the engines under the actual capacity that they are..
I.E:- A 13B is actually 3900cc displacement

A race 12a is similar to a race 2L engine in performance, but currently gets put into the 2001-2500cc category at 2005.5cc. Dropping the multiplyer for rotary engines to 1.74 allows the NA 12a engine into u2L without moving any of the other rotary engines, NA or boosted, into another category.

This may boost numbers in the u2L category and allow some more cars to race each other? It may also aid with period specific 12a engined cars racing?

How would such a rule change go about getting in if it was supported by the SS community?

I think this would be a great move, as im currently build a rx7 group c type full body car and will run a factory 12aPP engine. The only CAMS category suitable, is Sports Sedan or go to the iRace series.

Lloyd,

You would still be in sports sedans, but with 12a in u2L you can race lighter (only 20kg) than a 13b and race in the Vic u2L series with other similarly powered cars.

In most areas around australia this sort of change would go un-noticed. In any case I dont expect this will actually change unless the u2L viccy guys try and put it through.
