New diffuser rules

Postby Ricey88 » Sun Aug 05, 2012 8:46 pm

The way i read it the relevant parts are
"Rearward of the centreline of the rear axle it may be inclined at an angle,"
and
" they shall not project beyond the maximum width of coachwork or terminate more than 50mm
within the plan view of the adjacent coachwork"

So i think you can blow the last 50mm of the diffuser.
Do you see it a differently?

New diffuser rules

Yeah the "iclined from centreline of rears" rule of the replacement boot floorpan is clear and I assumed that the addition of a diffuser could only start at this point. But assuming and knowing are two different things. Nowhere does it say this, or does it say the diffuser must comply with this "incline" rule 3.10(ii). The diffuser rule only has the referrence with the rear bumper rule 3.2(ii).

3.10(iii) say no aerodynamic device in the floorpan which ends at the rear sills. So I started to think, maybe it can be read as the diffuser can start from behind the sills, be no higher than the centreline of the rear wheels at the bumper and extend no more than 100mm behind the bumper.

This was the reasoning for the question.

The exhaust question was just thrown in as an extra. I know there is to be no holes in the floorpan or boot replacement, but diffuser - ie: blown diffuser???

PS: i dont actually think a fully blown diffuser would be in the spirit of the rules. But if it is... why not try it?
