Hi 2002 some great pics....just wondering would that style of body kit be legal today, like box guards, running boards etc.

Yeah I love the Group 5 era of racing out of Europe, they built some real monster cars back then.

As for the open guards they aren't allowed these days. I think the only way you could run them would be on a historic sport sedan that had them originally fitted. Side skirts/running boards are now legal again, Dean Randle has them on his Saab and I reckon they look awesome.

That Capri is a tidy bit of gear ! Its a pitty we went away from that look of car ? I think some of the best looking cars ever made come from this time. They look like race cars ! ;)

The bottom 3 cars were all built in Australia to run under 2 litre sports sedans.

Surprised that no one has put a pic of the Monterosso Escort, I think it would of been the fastest one ever to race in Australia. Didn't it start out as Cos' car but then Mick ended do most of the driving with it?

It was always a competitive car before the minimum weight rules came in. Certainly looked like a real challenge to drive, in some footage of it racing at Mallala it leaves 30 metre long tyre marks up the start of the back straight every lap!!

A couple of photos of the Escort with Cos in 1984 and Mick in 2007. The car was converted over 20years into nothing like it was originally with its Cosworth 2 litre. Mick had always said if the car had a wider track like the Alfa he would have been able to get through corners with more speed instead of the brake late hard then squirt on exit ploy he had to use.
