I thought that i would create a thread for the build of my JZA80 Toyota Supra sports sedan.
In this thread i will post up various photos as we complete stages of the build. I am building this car with a long time friend who happens to be a chassis builder (he will be doing the majority of the work....i'm the gofer (finally assembly / electrical etc) haha and the guy with too many ideas!!). The car isn't intended to be a mega dollar front runner but hopefully a well thought out middle range car.
The reason for the build is because i have always liked the wild style of the best tin top racers in Australia and to be able to race in the category will be a dream come true. Plus going fast is fun :).
The car will be a full space frame car with a VG30TT much to the amazement of the 2JZ crowd.
Feel free to ask any questions etc. I more than happy to answer what i can.
OK so for the last few months we have been building the body so that we are at a point to make the fibreglass moulds. Hopefully in the next week or two we will have completed this task. I will post some pics once this is more complete. Here are some half finished pics. (it's alot further along now)
Mock up of kit for test fitting
We have in the mean time been designing the cars chassis and components in the simulated world. This has allowed us to test alot of ideas that would have otherwise cost us alot of money on prototyping.
Here is a pic of the new uprights we have just had machined. All designed and tested using simulated and real world calculations.
New upright fresh outta the oven
More installments coming soon including a pic of the brakes / bearings fitted to the upright.
Cheers
